Becoming the Leader I Was Meant to Be
My relationship with Roy started as a friendship and quickly became one of mentorship and growth. I wanted greater clarity and confidence in how I led and made decisions, both in my career and in my personal life. Roy helped me get there.
At the time, I was still defining what leadership really meant for me: how to communicate effectively, manage conflict, and navigate new responsibilities. I had the drive, but not always the structure or mindset. Roy helped me slow down, look deeper, and find clarity in how to lead with purpose.
Through our time together, I became better at thinking critically under pressure and separating emotion from decision-making. I gained confidence in leading authentically rather than trying to fit someone else’s mold, along with a stronger sense of purpose in how I show up for others.
Those lessons have stayed with me. I’ve become a more grounded and effective leader, not just at work, but in life. Roy’s mentorship has shaped how I lead my team, support my peers, and even how I lead as a husband and father. The patience, integrity, and humility he modeled are principles I try to live out every day.
